Roberto Faraone Mennella grew up in Italy on his family estate, surrounded by beauty and fine art, which soon he learned to appreciate from his grandmother Stella, who encouraged and inspired Roberto to pursue a career in design. After attending the Univesita' Federico Secondo in Napoli, Roberto moved to NYC to pursue his true passion at Parsons School of Design, where he earned a degree in Design Marketing in 1999. In 2000, he worked for LVMH's Christian Dior accessories before starting his jewelry venture.

Chronofighter Oversize Diver Deep Seal by GRAHAM

The new Graham Chronofighter was inspired by the English fighting forces, and although it is called a Diver, it was originally designed for combat pilots, wearing gloves. That is the reason for the massive left-handed fast-action start/stop lever. The 47 mm case is stainless steel with a PVD carbide treatment. The dial is black and orange and the caseback is solid, with the royal marine crown emblem.

The Na Neng gold mine in the northwest Guangxi Province was previously thought to have a proven reserve of 5 tons, an unnamed official with the country’s leading gold producer, manufacturer and trader told Xinhua. The country currently has 330 large-scale gold mines nationwide, with a daily output of 11,000 tons. The CNGGC announced earlier the Ministry of Finance had provided it with 47.75 million yuan ($6.96 million) from the 2008 central budget in a bid to help it prospect new mines.

Kenny Linsky (left), manager of Bernie Robbins Fine Jewelers’ Short Hills, N.J., location, and N.O.A. North America President Jerry Batt (right), flank the Tour GCX Summer Golf Series winner. Mahwah, N.J.—Swiss watch brand N.O.A. will supply the official timepiece for the Tour GCX golf series.

The series kicked off on June 30 in New Jersey and will continue at various venues throughout the Northeast.

Pakistani Gem Jewelers Call for Open Borders between India and Pakistan

Jewelers and gem traders from Pakistan have called for the governments of India and Pakistan to open up their common border to facilitate gem trade.

Gold Art Promotion Council-Pakistan President Muhammad Azghar, who is currently attending ‘JCK New Delhi 2008, stated: “At present, whatever jewelry trade is done between the two countries is via Dubai.

House of Taylor Surrenders Collateral to Lender

House of Taylor, which currently operates without a name (from here-on registrant / debtor,) informed the SEC that it had entered into a peaceful possession of collateral letter  with New Stream Secured Capital L.P. today. Under the possession letter, debtor acknowledged that it is indebted to New Stream for about $11.182 million. In addition, the amount must include interest accrued, commissions, costs, expenses, attorneys’ fees and other charges or contractual obligations, and charges associated with the sale or other disposition of the debtor’s assets. Jacob the Jeweler sentenced to 30 Months in Jail

Jacob Arabov, aka “Jacob the Jeweler,” (pictured above) just got sentenced to 30 months in jail according to WWD. Jacob, founder of Jacob & Co., will also have to pay a $2 million fine. The sentencing was related to a $270 million money laundering case, that he was arrested for back on June 15, 2006.
